Siya Kolisi had no hesitation when asked which rugby stadium boasts the best atmosphere.
Speaking on Friday, the Springbok captain explained that while Newlands Stadium remains his favourite venue at franchise level, Ellis Park Stadium stands above the rest when he pulls on the green and gold.

“When I play for my franchise, my favourite ground is Newlands. But when I play for my country, my favourite ground is Ellis Park,” Kolisi said.
The Bok skipper highlighted the unique atmosphere generated by the Johannesburg crowd, praising the diversity of supporters and the passion shown during the national anthem.
“It’s a special atmosphere. In the past, I’ve looked up into the crowd and have seen people of every race and colour. It’s one of those stadiums where the national anthem is sung equally from start to finish.
“The Boks always turn up at Ellis Park. It’s where we play our best rugby.”
For Kolisi, the combination of history, passionate support and South Africa’s strong record at Ellis Park makes it the country’s premier rugby atmosphere.
