The Lakers are in agreement with free agent guard Quentin Grimes on a four-year contract worth $60MM, sources tell Shams Charania of ESPN (Twitter link). According to Charania, the fourth year will be a player option.
Grimes, 26, has appeared in 318 regular season games over five NBA seasons with the Knicks, Pistons, Mavericks, and Sixers. He has mostly been used in a three-and-D role during that time, providing solid perimeter defense while knocking down 36.6% of 5.1 threes per game over the course of his career.
However, the former Houston Cougar has also shown as broader skill set, particularly down the stretch of the 2024/25 season for the tanking Sixers, when he took on a primary offensive role and averaged 21.9 points and 4.5 assists per game on relatively efficient shooting (.469/.373/.752).
