South Africa have been handed a major boost after rising star Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu confirmed his ankle surgery was successful following the injury that ended his United Rugby Championship campaign.
The talented Stormers and Springboks playmaker took to social media on Thursday to reassure supporters, sharing a series of photos from hospital, including one showing him recovering in a protective medical boot.

Surgery successful after cruel setback
The 24-year-old suffered the injury while scoring a superb try during the Stormers’ 44-21 URC quarter-final victory over Cardiff at DHL Stadium at the end of May.
The injury ruled Feinberg-Mngomezulu out of the Stormers’ semi-final defeat to Leinster and brought an abrupt end to what had been another outstanding campaign.
His latest setback is particularly frustrating given the gifted fly-half had finally enjoyed an extended spell free from the injury problems that disrupted the early stages of his career.
Feinberg-Mngomezulu has firmly established himself as one of world rugby’s brightest talents over the past 12 months, producing eye-catching performances for both the Stormers and the Springboks.

Race against time for Springboks return
No official return date has been confirmed, but the injury is expected to sideline him for several months.
That would almost certainly rule him out of the opening rounds of the inaugural Nations Championship, while his availability for South Africa’s Rugby Championship clashes against New Zealand later this year also remains in doubt.
Springbok supporters will now be hoping the successful operation marks the first step towards a full recovery, with one of South Africa’s most exciting young stars eager to get back on the field as soon as possible.
