Former Newcastle Falcons and Northampton Saints prop Kieran Brookes could be in line for a surprise exit from USA Perpignan, despite having a contract that runs until 2027.

Brookes signed a contract extension with the Catalan club last year, committing his future until 2027. However, reports suggest he could leave a year early, with Munster emerging as a potential destination.
In May 2014, Brookes was called up to England’s training squad for the tour of New Zealand, where he earned his first two international caps.
Since making his senior England debut on that tour, he has gone on to win 16 caps for his country. He was part of England’s squad for the 2015 Rugby World Cup and was also selected for the 2016 Six Nations.
After returning from injury, he played a role in England’s Grand Slam-winning campaign that year.
Later in 2016, Brookes rejoined the England Saxons squad for a tour of South Africa. He featured against South Africa A as England secured a 2-0 series victory.
After leaving Wasps in 2021, Brookes moved to Toulon before joining Perpignan in 2024, where he has remained ever since.
According to the Irish Independent, Munster are keen to add experience to their front row ahead of next season and view Brookes as a player who could make an immediate impact.
Should negotiations progress, Perpignan would lose one of the most experienced members of their squad just weeks before the new campaign begins. At this stage, however, no deal has been officially confirmed.
The experienced tighthead prop played an important role in Perpignan’s Top 14 survival-clinching 47-24 victory over Provence Rugby last weekend.
Having started 15 matches this season and featuring off the bench in six, Brookes could now be set for the next chapter of his career in Ireland.
Brookes is also eligible to represent Ireland, having not played for England for the past decade and meeting World Rugby’s eligibility criteria.
A move to the province could open the door to international selection under Andy Farrell, should Brookes choose to pursue that route and earn a call-up.
