Ireland and Munster prop Oli Jager is expected to retire from professional rugby on medical grounds, according to a report in the Irish Examiner.
The 30-year-old, who turns 31 next month, has endured a difficult spell with injuries during his time at Munster, including a number of concussion-related setbacks that have severely limited his game time.

While neither the player nor the province have officially confirmed the news, the Irish Examiner reports that an announcement is expected in the near future.
Jager’s rugby journey has been anything but conventional. A former member of the Leinster academy, he made the bold decision to move to New Zealand in search of opportunities.
The move transformed his career.
After impressing for Canterbury, he earned a place with the Crusaders, making more than 50 appearances for one of rugby’s most successful clubs.
His performances led to selection for the New Zealand Barbarians and New Zealand XV, although injury prevented him from featuring for the latter.
That left the door open for Ireland, and Jager eventually represented Ireland A before winning his first and only senior cap during the 2024 Six Nations against Wales.
If the report proves accurate, it will bring a premature end to a career that took him from Leinster’s academy to Super Rugby success and ultimately international honours with Ireland.
