Pistons Pick Up Contract Options On Daniss Jenkins, Tolu Smith

The Pistons have picked up their team options on the 2026/27 contracts of guard Daniss Jenkins and big man Tolu Smith, Spotrac’s Keith Smith tweets.

Jenkins’ option is worth $4MM, while Smith’s is worth $2,411,090. Smith’s salary remains non-guaranteed until Jan. 10.

Jenkins was one of the league’s greatest success stories last season. He went from a two-way player to a main cog for the team with the best record in the Eastern Conference.

Undrafted in 2024, the former St. John’s guard appeared in 72 regular season games, including 19 starts, this past season. He averaged 9.3 points, 3.9 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 2o.2 minutes per game.

He shot 40.8% overall and 37.4% from three-point range, earning the trust of the Pistons’ coaching staff to the extent where he often played crunch-time minutes.

Jenkins also saw action in 14 playoff games, including three starts, averaging 9.1 points, 3.0 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 22.7 minutes per night.

Jenkins received a two-year, $8MM contract after being promoted from his two-way deal just after the trade deadline. He projects to once again be a prominent member of the Pistons’ backcourt next season.

Smith was promoted from his two-way deal to a standard contract shortly before the end of the regular season. Smith, who spent most of the season with the G League’s Motor City Cruise, saw action in 15 regular season games with Detroit. He posted averages of 3.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in 9.1 minutes per game.

The Mississippi State product also made three cameo appearances during the postseason. With Isaiah Stewart getting traded to Memphis, Smith could factor into the Pistons’ frontcourt rotation next season.
