Nets To Sign Day’Ron Sharpe, Josh Minott To Two-Year Deals

The Nets intend to decline their team options on center Day’Ron Sharpe and forward Josh Minott in order to sign them to multiyear contracts, according to multiple reports.

Sources tell Michael Scotto of HoopsHype (Twitter link) that Sharpe will sign a new two-year, $20MM deal, while Shams Charania of ESPN reports (via Twitter) that Minott will receive a two-year, $9MM contract that features a second-year team option.

Sharpe, a 2021 first-round pick who will be the longest-tenured Net once the trade of Nic Claxton is complete, has put up strong numbers off the bench in recent years. In 2025/26, he established new career highs in points (8.7), rebounds (6.7), assists (2.3), and steals (1.1) in 18.7 minutes per game, while also shooting a career-best 60.1% from the field.

The expectation is that Sharpe, who has impressed the team in recent years with his development, will take on a more significant role following Claxton’s departure, though the Nets are still said to be in the market for more frontcourt help, having been linked to Mitchell Robinson.

As for Minott, he was a mid-season acquisition from Boston, who needed to shed salary to finish the year under the luxury tax line. The athletic 23-year-old had his best year as a pro for the Celtics and Nets, appearing in 49 total games (11 starts) and averaging 7.4 points and 3.2 rebounds in 17.0 minutes per game, with a .500/.418/.787 shooting line. In 16 outings with Brooklyn, he scored 10.8 points in just 19.3 minutes per contest.

Sharpe’s team option was worth $6.25MM, while Minott’s was worth roughly $2.58MM, so the Nets could’ve picked up those options in order to bring both players back and more team-friendly cap hits and to maximize their cap room. However, they apparently decided it made more sense to lock up a pair of players they like to multiyear deals sooner rather than later.

As cap expert Yossi Gozlan details (via Twitter), Brooklyn still projects to have roughly $36MM in cap room based on the club’s reported moves so far, as well as the room exception, which is expected to be worth just shy of $9.4MM.
