The final of next season’s NBA Cup will be held at Hinkle Fieldhouse — Butler’s arena — in Indianapolis, according to Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press. The game will take place on December 11.
As Reynolds writes, commissioner Adam Silver previously said the league was looking for “storied college arenas” to host the championship game of the in-season tournament. Hinkle fits that bill as one of the oldest — and most iconic — arenas in the country.
The NBA confirmed the news in a press release.
“Hinkle Fieldhouse offers a special setting to capture the excitement and drama of the Emirates NBA Cup Championship,” said NBA head of global events, Kelly Flatow. “Playing the Championship in an iconic basketball environment like this will further establish it as a signature moment on the NBA calendar.”
The first three finals of the NBA Cup were held at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
