England captain Maro Itoje has broken his silence after Steve Borthwick admitted it is “very realistic” that the Saracens lock will miss all three of England’s summer fixtures.

Rather than commenting directly on his international future, Itoje shared a series of holiday photos with wife Mimi, giving fans a glimpse into his time away from rugby as discussions continue over a potential extended rest period.
The 31-year-old posted images from a luxury tropical resort, showing himself training in the sunshine, relaxing by the beach and enjoying some well-earned downtime following a demanding season.
Borthwick Expects Itoje To Miss Summer Series
Speaking this week, Borthwick revealed that it is increasingly likely Itoje will sit out England’s Nations Championship fixtures against South Africa, Fiji and Argentina.
The lock was left out of England’s latest training squad as part of ongoing discussions around player welfare and workload management.
Borthwick has previously explained that Itoje has endured a particularly challenging year, balancing captaincy duties, a gruelling Six Nations campaign and personal difficulties away from rugby.

While he remains silent on the decision, his latest social media update suggests he is embracing the opportunity to recharge ahead of another huge season.
