According to RMC Sport, the 22-year-old is currently in talks with Union Bordeaux-Bègles over a contract extension and has made no secret of his ambition to target the Olympics, following in the footsteps of Antoine Dupont, who helped France win gold at the Paris 2024 Games.

The dynamic Bordeaux-Bègles winger is eager to test himself in the sevens arena and is determined to create the opportunity to do so.

With his current deal due to expire at the end of next season, negotiations over a new contract are ongoing. During those discussions, the prospect of Olympic participation has reportedly become part of the conversation.

There is little doubt about the impact the prolific finisher could have in sevens. Bielle-Biarrey has scored 34 tries in 30 appearances this season, including nine during the Six Nations.

His tally featured a four-try performance against England in the final round, breaking a 101-year-old tournament record. Overall, he has crossed for 93 tries in 121 matches, including 29 for France, and is closing in on Damian Penaud’s national record of 40.

After the campaign, he was named Player of the Tournament for the second year in a row.

Achieving all of this by the age of 22 has cemented his status as one of rugby’s most exciting young talents.

Any agreement is also expected to involve the French Rugby Federation (FFR) and the National Rugby League (LNR), particularly given that Stade Toulousain received a €400,000 salary-cap allowance to release Antoine Dupont ahead of the Paris Olympics.

Bielle-Biarrey could eventually link up with Dupont in Los Angeles, although the scrum-half’s availability for the 2028 Games remains uncertain.

“Given what I experienced in sevens, it certainly makes me want to come back,” Dupont told L’Equipe last summer. “But I’m keeping open the possibility of trying to participate in these Los Angeles Games. Defending a title is always exciting.”
