The Kings plan to sign B.J. Edwards to an Exhibit 10 contract, per Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers.com (Twitter link).
A 6’3″ guard, Edwards became an unrestricted free agent this week after going undrafted. He was a four-year college player, spending his freshman season with Tennessee prior to transferring to SMU ahead of his sophomore campaign.
Edwards, 23, had a strong senior season with the Mustangs, averaging 12.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.9 assists and an ACC-best 2.3 steals in 33.2 minutes per game across 28 appearances. He posted a shooting slash line of .474/.372/.771.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed training camp agreement that lines up a player to earn a bonus worth up to $91K if he’s waived before the season begins and then spends at least 60 days with his team’s G League affiliate. It can also be converted into a two-way deal before opening night.
