Henry Pollock transfer latest as Eddie Hearn makes first move

Northampton Saints are already planning to reward Henry Pollock with a bumper new contract after Eddie Hearn made his first major move since becoming the England star’s representative.

RUCK understands Saints are fully aware that Pollock’s value has skyrocketed following his remarkable rise over the past 12 months. While the 21-year-old still has several years remaining on the long-term deal he signed at Franklin’s Gardens, discussions have already started over ensuring his salary reflects his status as one of rugby’s brightest young talents.

Saints preparing for bumper new deal

Hearn, who recently signed Pollock to Matchroom’s talent agency alongside Stellar Rugby, has made it clear he believes the back-row forward can become one of the biggest commercial stars the sport has ever seen.

According to sources, Saints have been told that Pollock’s next contract could eventually need to be worth as much as six times his current club salary if they are to keep pace with his growing reputation and commercial value.

The Premiership champions remain in a strong negotiating position thanks to the length of Pollock’s existing deal, and there is no suggestion the England international is looking to leave the club.

Eddie Hearn outlines ambitious plans

However, after breakthrough campaigns with Northampton, England and the British & Irish Lions, rival clubs are certain to keep a close eye on his future.

Hearn recently admitted he was surprised by the level of salaries in rugby union compared to other professional sports and has spoken of his ambition to maximise Pollock’s earning potential both on and off the pitch.

“I was shocked when I looked at Henry Pollock’s contract,” Hearn said recently. “My job is to build Henry Pollock into one of the biggest stars in world rugby and maximise everything he does away from the pitch as well.”

For Saints, tying down arguably English rugby’s hottest property has quickly become one of the biggest priorities as they look to build their future around the dynamic back-row star.
