England prop Kyle Snicker confirms International return

Kyle Sinckler has fired another reminder to Steve Borthwick after confirming his return to the international stage with the Barbarians this summer.

The veteran tighthead will feature in two glamour fixtures against South Africa and Wales later this month, as he continues his push towards an England recall ahead of the 2027 Rugby World Cup.

Sinckler’s World Cup ambition remains clear

While Sinckler hasn’t featured for England since being left out of Borthwick’s plans, the 68-cap prop has never hidden his desire to wear the white shirt again.

Speaking after his move to Toulon, Sinckler made a bold declaration about his long-term ambitions.

“I will be at the World Cup in 2027, 100 per cent.”

At 33, some may have written him off, but the former Harlequins and Bristol Bears star clearly believes his international story is far from over.

Barbarians return against South Africa and Wales

Sinckler will next pull on the famous black-and-white jersey when the Barbarians take on the Springboks in Gqeberha on June 20 before facing Wales at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, on June 27.

The fixtures will give him another opportunity to showcase his talents on a major stage against Test opposition.

Despite playing his club rugby in France, Sinckler remains one of England’s most accomplished front-rowers, boasting vast international experience, British & Irish Lions pedigree and a skillset few tightheads can match.

Borthwick should be watching closely

England’s options at tighthead have improved in recent seasons, with Leicester Tigers prop Joe Heyes establishing himself as a genuine contender for the No.3 jersey.

However, many supporters would argue the race to be England’s best specialist tighthead is still between Heyes and Sinckler — and it’s a lot closer than some people think.

At his best, Sinckler remains one of the top two English tightheads in world rugby. His scrummaging, carrying and experience at the highest level are qualities that cannot easily be replaced.

With England building towards Australia 2027, Borthwick would be foolish not to keep a close eye on Sinckler’s performances this summer.
