Cavs To Re-Sign Thomas Bryant On One-Year Deal

Free agent center Thomas Bryant intends to sign a one-year deal to return to the Cavaliers, Shams Charania of ESPN tweets. Charania didn’t specify the terms, but it’s likely to be a veteran’s minimum contract.

Bryant, 28, has been on the move quite a bit during his career but now appears set to get a second year in Cleveland. He appeared in 60 games last season, including one start, and averaged 6.2 points and 3.4 rebounds in 12.2 minutes per night. He also made nine postseason appearances, though he only averaged 4.6 MPG in those outings.

Bryant joined Cleveland on a one-year deal last September to fortify its frontcourt. He projects as the first or second option to back up Jarrett Allen once again.

Bryant’s career has also included two stints with the Lakers along with stops in Washington, Denver, Miami and Indiana. Overall, the veteran big man has seen action in 393 regular season contests.
